Manika Batra Becomes The First Indian Woman To Win Bronze At Asian Cup Table Tennis Event
On 19 November 2022, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award winner “Manika Batra” became the first Indian Woman to ever win a bronze at ITTF Asian Cup. The astounding victory was established when she defeated the World’s Number 6, three time Asian Cup winner, Hina Hayata of Japan by 4-2. She’s currently deemed as the fourth best Table Tennis player in the country and 44th world-wide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated her on twitter by saying how her achievement will inspire the youth (especially girls).

Batra has won several medals including two Olympic Medals and several gold and silvers in Commonwealth Games and South Asian Games. She started playing Table Tennis at the age of five. She dropped her academics and even modelling offers, in favour of Table Tennis and the world sees the result of her determination.
