Rahul Bajaj was an Indian billionaire. He was the Chairman of the Indian conglomerate Bajaj Group (founded in 1926 by Jamanlal Bajaj, the fourth-biggest group in India) from 1965 to 2005. He was responsible for taking the revenue of the Bajaj Group from 7.5 crores to more than 12000 crores under his leadership. He was presented the third-highest civilian award in India, the Padma Bhushan, in 2001.

Rahul Bajaj was born in Calcutta (British India) on June 10, 1938. His father, Kamalnayan Bajaj, was an Indian politician and businessman. His mother was Savitri Bajaj. He was the grandson of prominent freedom fighter Jamnalal Kaniram Bajaj. Rahul Bajaj was bright at studies from his childhood. He was an alumni of Harvard Business School in the United States. He also studies at St. Stephen College, Delhi; Govt. Law College, Mumbai; and Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai. He has two sons, Rajiv Bajaj and Sanjiv Bajaj and a daughter, Sunaina.

Rahul started his career by taking over the Bajaj Group in 1965. He was responsible for helping Bajaj Group reach new heights. He managed Bajaj Group for more than five decades and stepped down from his role in 2005. He then led the split of Bajaj Auto into three companies, including Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finserv, and a holding company. He was the chairman of Bajaj Auto until 2021. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006–2010. Beside that, he was also chairman of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) twice. He also held other prominent positions that included Chairman of Indian Airlines, Chairman of the IBC (Indian Business Council), Chairman of IIT Bombay, Member of the International Advisory Council, and South Asia Advisory Board at Harvard Business School.

Rahul Bajaj was presented with the CII President Award for Lifetime Achievement by former President Pranab Mukherjee. He was awarded with third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan in 2001. On the Forbes list of billionaires in 2016, he was ranked at 722.

Bajaj succumbed to pneumonia on February 12, 2022. He was known to be fearless. Today, he is the inspiration for many blooming entrepreneurs in India. The Arora-Khatri team thank him for his contributions.
