Rajendra Kumar Tuli (राजेन्द्र कुमार )
Rajendra Kumar Tuli, also known as Rajendra Kumar, was a renowned Indian film actor who was active in the Indian film industry from the 1950s to the 1990s. He was born on July 20, 1929, in Sialkot, British India (now in Pakistan) and passed away on July 12, 1999, in Mumbai, India.
Kumar graduated with a degree in law before venturing into the film industry. He wed Shukla, a member of the Hindi film industry's Behl family, who is the sister of Ramesh and Shyam Behl and the aunt of their sons Goldie and Ravi Behl. A son and two daughters were born to him and Shukla. He earned a Ph.D., and his name was prefixed with "Doctor." He then starred in several successful films in the 1950s and 1960s such as "Hum Hindustani," "Mother India," "Dil Ek Mandir," and "Arzoo."
Throughout his career, Kumar appeared in over 80 films and won several awards for his performances. When he had six or seven films playing at the same time that had been running for more than 25 weeks, or what is known as a "silver jubilee picture" in India, he earned the moniker "Jubilee Kumar." He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his roles in "Dil Ek Mandir" and "Arzoo." He also received the Padma Shri award in 1969 and the Padma Bhushan award in 1991, both from the Government of India for his contribution to Indian cinema. Kumar was also known for his philanthropic work. He was an active member of several social and cultural organizations and was involved in several charitable activities. Kumar was a member of the Indian People's Theatre Association and was also associated with the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai.
Rajendra Kumar was one of the most popular actors of his time, known for his good looks and his performances in romantic and family dramas. He left a lasting legacy in Indian cinema and his contributions will always be remembered.
