Anij Vij (अनिल विज)

Anil Vij is an Indian politician. He was appointed as the cabinet minister of Haryana in October of 2014, and he’s also a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. Currently, he's been the home minister of Haryana since 2019. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Anil Vij was born in Ambala (Haryana) on March 15, 1953. His father was Bhim Sen. He completed his high school education at Banarasi Das High School in 1968, and he completed his college education at SD College, Ambala, in 1972. He is unmarried and lives in Ambala.


Right around his time in college, he had joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which was the student branch of the RSS. This ignited his interest in politics. He became the General Secretary of the ABVP in 1970. He started his career as a businessman but subsequently turned into a full-time politician. He joined the State Bank in 1974. In 1990, he stood in the by-election for the Ambala Cantonment seat after Sushma Swaraj resigned and the seat became vacant.

He went on to be appointed MLA of Ambala Cantonment six times during his career. He also became the state president of Akhil Bharatiya Yuva Morcha in 1991. He also became the first person in the state to volunteer for Covid Vaccine. He’s also the Cabinet Minister of Haryana and handles the following departments: Haryana Ayush, Health Services, Medical Education, Science & Technology, and Sports & Youth Affairs, Haryana.
