Gulshan Kumar (गुलशन कुमार )
Gulshan Kumar is the founder of one of the most popular music labels in the world, T-Series. He has also produced multiple movies, including Aashiqui, Meera Ke Mohan, Appu Raja, etc.
Gulshan Kumar was born in New Delhi, India, on May 5, 1951. His father was a fruit juice vendor who worked in the streets. He was a religious devotee of Lord Shiva and Mata Vaishno Devi. He even ran a free-of-cost meal service known as "Prasad" for pilgrims who visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, which is still continuing to this day. His family changed career paths when they acquired a shop that sold cassettes and records.
Gulshan Kumar started his own music company, first as an audio cassette operation named "Super Cassettes Industries." It took some time, but it turned profitable in the late 1990s. Then he began a music production company in Noida, and later, after his business started growing, he moved to Mumbai. During this time, he also produced many movies. His music label would later grow to be popularly known as "T-Series." Today, it is the largest music label in India, controlling more than 60% of the market and spreading across 24 countries across 6 continents.
Gulshan was shot by Abdul Rauf on August 12, 1997, for unclear reasons. The Arora-Khatri team thanks him for his contributions.
