Shekhar Kapur is a renowned Indian film director, actor, and producer who has made a significant contribution to the world of cinema. Born on December 6, 1945, in Lahore, Punjab (now Pakistan). He was the nephew of famous Dev Anand. He was the brother to three sisters. He attended Modern School in New Delhi and studied economies at St. Stephen College. He came a CA at the age of 22. He worked several years as an accountant while he was in England. He married Suchitra Krishnamoorthi in 1992 and has a daugher Kaveri Kapur. The couple had a divorce in 2007.

Shekhar Kapur began his career as an actor in the early 1970s. He made his acting debut with the film "Jaan Hazir Hai" (1975), and went on to appear in several other films, including "Masoom" (1983), "Jeena Yahan" (1983) etc. and even television dramas such as "Udaan" and "Upanyaas".
