Actor and Producer Akshay Kumar works in Bollywood. He was naturalised as a Canadian citizen after being born on September 9, 1967, in Amristar, Punjab, India. Over 30 years ago, Kumar began acting. More than 100 films include him, and he has won several accolades, including two Filmfare Awards and two National Film Awards. He received the fourth-highest civilian honour in India, the Padma Shri, from the Indian government in 2009. In Indian movies, Kumar is one of the most successful actor.

His father was Hari Om Bhatia, and mother was Aruna Bhatia. His father served in the military. Since he was a little boy, Kumar has had a deep love for sports. He learnt karate while he was a student at Matunga's Don Bosco High School. He enrolled in Guru Nanak Khalsa College to pursue higher education, but he left because he was preoccupied with his studies. He explained to his father his desire to study martial arts. Kumar lived in Thailand for five years while studying martial arts and practising Thai Boxing. Kumar's sister is Alka Bhatia. In India, he earned a black belt in taekwondo. Kumar has held positions as a chef and at a travel business. Kumar wed Twinkle Khanna, the actress Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia's kid, on January 17, 2001. Together, they are parents to a boy and a girl. He is viewed as a protective dad who keeps his children out of the spotlight. He declared that his main objective was to provide them "a normal childhood."

In a 2010 interview with the Economist, Kumar asserted to have "dual citizenship" and a University of Windsor honorary doctorate. He was one of the 15 superstars from other countries who were invited to Canada to take part in the Olympic torch relay. Alongside Raakhee and Shantipriya, Kumar made his debut as the principal actor in Saugandh (1991). Khiladi, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyya, Baby, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, OMG, Airlift, Kesari, Jolly LLB 2, Gabbar is Back, Welcome, Mohra, Good Newz, and many other movies are among Akshay Kumar's most well-known works.

From a total of 13 nominations, Kumar has taken home two Filmfare Awards, namely Best Villain for Ajnabee (2002) and Best Comedian for Garam Masala. He has also received a National Film Award for Best Actor for the roles he played in the movies Rustom and Airlift (2006). (both 2016). In recognition of his contributions to Indian cinema, from the University of Windsor, Kumar received an honorary doctorate of law in 2008. The next year, the Indian government awarded him the Padma Shri honour. The Asian Awards recognised Kumar for his outstanding performance in movies in 2011.
