Anil Kapoor (also known as Mr. India, Lakkhan) is an Indian actor and producer who was born on December 24, 1956. He also appears in television shows, foreign films, and Hindi-language movies. Kapoor has performed in more than 100 films during the course of a career that has lasted more than 40 years as an actor and since 2005 as a producer. He has been honoured with countless honours, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards, for his several iconic, well-known, and classic movies.

He is Nirmal Kapoor and Surinder Kapoor's second child. Sanjay Kapoor, an actor, Boney Kapoor, a well-known producer, and Reena Kapoor are Anil's siblings. After graduating from the renowned St. Xavier's College, he continued his education at Our Lady of Perpetual Succor High School. As Prithviraj Kapoor was his father's cousin, he is also connected to the Kapoor family. Kapoor wed costume designer Sunita Bhavnani in 1984; the couple has two daughters and a son. Their son Harshvardhan Kapoor is also an actor, as is their younger daughter Rhea Kapoor and their younger daughter Sonam Kapoor. The children of Anil Kapoor call him "AK."

Anil Kapoor made his acting debut in ‘Tu Payal Mein Geet’ when he was 14 years old. He represented a young Shashi Kapoor in a movie that was never released. He made his acting debut in the movie ‘Hamare Tumhare’ in 1979. The next year, he made his Telugu film debut with Vamsa Vruksham, directed by Bapu. For his debut Hindi leading role in ‘Woh 7 Din’ (1983), he once more worked with the director. He also appeared in Mani Ratnam's first film as a director, ‘Pallavi Anu Pallavi’, that same year (Kannada). His first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor was given to him for his groundbreaking performance in Yash Chopra's ‘Mashaal’. ‘Yudh’, in which he delivered the famous line "Ek Dum Jhakaas," was released in 1985. His most well-known movies are Taal, Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Dil Dhadakne Do, No Entry, Mr. India, Parinda, Lamhe, Virasat, Nayak: The Real Hero, and many others.

As a result of his work in N. Chandra's Tezaab and subsequently Indra Kumar's Beta, Kapoor received his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor (1992). In addition, he appeared in a variety of other critically praised and financially lucrative movies, such as Woh Saat Din (1983), Meri Jung (1985), Janbaaz (1986), Karma (1986), Mr. India (1987), Virasat (1997), for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics), Biwi No. 1 (1999), Taal (1999), for which he garnered his second Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Act (2013).
